Patrick Kaleta, who set career highs for the Buffalo Sabres last season in goals, points and games played, agreed to a new two-year contract with the team Wednesday. He had been a restricted free agent set to go to arbitration later this month.

The 24-year-old right wing registered 10 goals and 15 points in 55 games for the Sabres, including shorthanded goals in consecutive games in December against the Rangers and Canadiens. He also recorded his only multi-goal game of the season in that Dec. 12 outing in New York, including the game-winning tally.

A sixth-round pick by Buffalo in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, Kaleta has career totals of 17 goals, 31 points and 240 penalty minutes in 153 games. He added 1 goal and 2 points in six postseason games last season.
