Blues sign Evans and Oystrick

ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today the club has signed defensemen Brennan Evans and Nathan Oystrick (Ol-strihk) to two-way contracts.

Evans, 28, skated in 79 games for the Toronto Maple Leafs' AHL affiliate Toronto Marlies last season, collecting eight points (one goal, seven assists) to go along with 199 penalty minutes.  The 6-3, 220-pound defenseman has spent the past seven seasons in the AHL including time with Lowell, Binghamton, Worcester and Iowa totaling 494 games, 79 points (9 goals, 70 assists) and 1,111 penalty minutes.  The Camrose, Alberta native was originally signed by Calgary as an undrafted free agent on Sept. 30, 2003.

Oystrick, 27, spent the majority of the 2009-10 season with the Atlanta Thrashers' AHL affiliate Chicago Wolves, collecting 23 points (seven goals, 16 assists) to go along with 96 penalty minutes.  In his NHL career, the 6-0, 210-pound defenseman has played in 56 games with both the Atlanta Thrashers and Anaheim Ducks earning 12 points (four goals, eight assists) and 52 penalty minutes.  The Regina, Saskatoon native was originally drafted by Atlanta in the seventh round, 198th overall in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
