Fort St. John Flyers to face Bentley Generals in Allan Cup championship game

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. - The host Fort St. John Flyers beat the South East Prairie Thunder 7-3 on Friday night to clinch a berth in the final at the Allan Cup senior hockey championship.

Chris Stevens had a hat trick and Rod Stevens chipped in with two goals and three assists for the Flyers, who will face the Bentley Generals in Saturday's final. Bentley topped the Dundas Real McCoys 4-2 in Friday's other semifinal.

Bryan Lewis added a goal and two assists for Fort St. John, while Kip Noble also scored. Clayton Pool made 26 saves for the win.

Ryan Smith, Travis Kornelsen and Paul Wallman replied for the Thunder. Justin Harrris made 28 saves in taking the loss.

In the earlier semi, Kurt Bensmiller scored the game-winner in the third and Jordan Alford made 34 saves for Bentley.

Travis Brigley, Don Morrison and Brandin Cote, into an empty net, had the other goals for the Generals.

Mark Jooris and Jerry Galway repleid for the Real McCoys, while Dan Turple made 41 saves in defeat.

After Brigley gave Bentley a 1-0 lead at 7:18 of the first, Jooris tied it for Dundas just 1:27 later.

The Real McCoys led 2-1 lead heading to the third, but Morrison tied it just under four minutes into the final period and Bensmiller gave the Generals the lead at 16:12.

Cote's goal into an empty net at 19:31 rounded out the scoring.
