Hershey Bears centre Keith Aucoin wins AHL most valuable player award

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Hershey Bears centre Keith Aucoin was named the winner of the Les Cunningham Award as the American Hockey League's most valuable player Friday.

Entering play Friday night, Aucoin is the league leader with 102 points (35 goals, 67 assists) in 70 games this season. He has recorded 10 game-winning goals and a plus-29 rating.

Aucoin, who earned his fourth career post-season all-star team berth last week, has not gone more than two games in a row without a point since November 2008. He also has 30 multiple-point games this year.

The native of Waltham, Mass., recorded his 625th career point (194-437) on March 27 to become the highest-scoring American-born player in AHL history.

Aucoin also has one goal and four assists in nine NHL games with the Washington Capitals this season.
