NEW YORK -- Rangers star Marian Gaborik won't be in the lineup Wednesday night when New York hosts the Nashville Predators at Madison Square Garden.

Gaborik was hurt in practice Tuesday when he fell over goaltender Henrik Lundqvist had his right thigh lacerated by Lundqvist's skate. He received stitches for the wound that isn't considered serious.

Gaborik, who is fourth in the NHL in goals with 35, tried to hurdle Lundqvist during a breakaway drill. Instead he landed on Lundqvist's blade and limped off the ice.

"I thought he was joking," Lundqvist said. "My skate caught his knee. Hopefully he'll be OK."

Rangers coach John Tortorella hopes Gaborik can return Friday night for a road game against the Pittsburgh Penguins. The injury shouldn't jeopardize Gaborik's chances of playing for Slovakia at the 2010 Winter Olympics, which start next week.
