Flyers-Sharks tops Friday's six-game NHL schedule

The Philadelphia Flyers and San Jose Sharks are two of the NHL's best teams, so a visit by the Flyers to the Shark Tank is worth waiting up for.

The teams meet for the second time in less than a month when the Flyers come to San Jose (10 p.m. ET, NHL Network-U.S) in one of six games on Friday's NHL schedule. San Jose leads the overall NHL standings, while the Flyers are 12-5-1, lead the NHL in power-play percentage and are coming off a 3-2 win at Los Angeles on Thursday. While fans in the East might have to stay up late, this figures to be one of the better games of the season.

Friday's action starts at 7 p.m. ET when the Washington Capitals host the Montreal Canadiens at the Verizon Center. The Capitals got superstar Alex Ovechkin back on Tuesday, and he scored a goal in a 4-2 victory over the Rangers in New York. Montreal hasn't played since a 3-2 home shootout win over Carolina on Tuesday.

At 7:30 ET, the Boston Bruins make their first trip of the season to Buffalo for a meeting with the Sabres. The Bruins come to HSBC Arena after a 4-3 shootout win at Atlanta on Thursday, while the Sabres were sitting home after a disappointing 6-2 loss to Florida on Wednesday.

Also at 7:30, Florida visits Detroit, where the Red Wings are coming off their first home loss in regulation -- 3-1 to Dallas on Wednesday. The Panthers are 3-0-1 in their last four after their win in Buffalo.

The New York Islanders resume their seven-game road trip when they visit the Xcel Energy Center to face the Minnesota Wild. The Islanders had a three-day break after ending the first segment of their trip with a 2-0-2 mark by winning 4-1 in Boston. Minnesota started a homestand with a 3-2 loss to Phoenix on Wednesday.

There's also another game at 10 p.m. ET -- the Colorado Avalanche finishes a swing through Western Canada with a visit to Vancouver. The Avs are sure to be looking for revenge after being walloped 8-2 by the Canucks at home last Saturday.
