There may be only three games on the schedule Tuesday night, but they promise to be entertaining.
The action gets under way at 7 p.m. ET, as the
Detroit Red Wings aim for their third straight win against the host
Buffalo Sabres at HSBC Arena. The Sabres have scored only four goals in their first three games, yet are off to a 2-0-1 start. Detroit has won two in a row after opening the season with back-to-back losses to the
St. Louis Blues in Stockholm, Sweden.
Also at 7 p.m., the
Calgary Flames will attempt to clear the cobwebs after blowing a 5-0 lead on Monday night in a 6-5 overtime loss to the
Chicago Blackhawks as they face the
Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena. Calgary scored all five goals in the opening period before watching the lead slip away. Columbus, meanwhile, has won three of its first four games and trails Chicago by just one point for the Central Division lead.
Lastly, at 7:30 p.m. ET, the red-hot
Colorado Avalanche will battle the struggling
Toronto Maple Leafs at the Air Canada Centre. Colorado is coming off an impressive 4-3 victory at Boston on Monday afternoon and is off to a 3-1-1 start. Toronto (0-4-1) has allowed 24 goals in its first five games and dropped a 7-2 decision to the
New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden on Monday night.
