Ducks, Sens swap forwards

The Anaheim Ducks traded Ottawa native Jason Bailey back to his hometown on Friday, sending the 22-year-old forward to the Senators for forward Shawn Weller.

The Ducks chose Bailey in the third round (No. 63) in the 2005 Entry Draft while he was playing for the University of Michigan. The 6-foot-1, 210-pounder left the Wolverines midway through the 2006-07 season to play with the Ottawa 67s of the Ontario Hockey League. He split 2008-09, his first pro season, between Bakersfield of the ECHL and Iowa of the AHL, earning 2 assists and 35 penalty minutes in 44 games with Bakersfield and going scoreless in two games with Iowa.

Weller, a 23-year-old native of Glens Falls, N.Y., has played most of the past three seasons with Ottawa's AHL affiliate in Binghamton after spending three seasons at Clarkson University. In 70 games with Binghamton in 2008-09, he scored 4 goals and added 5 assists for 9 points with 70 PIM. He also had a goal and an assist with 2 PIM in four games for Elmira of the ECHL.

The Senators chose Weller in the third round (No. 77) in the 2004 Entry Draft.
