Red Wings sign Delmore to a one-year deal

The Detroit Red Wings announced today that the club has signed free agent defenseman Andy Delmore to a one-year, two-way contract.  In accordance with team policy, additional terms of the deal were not disclosed.
 
Delmore, 32, spent the past two seasons playing in Germany for the Hamburg Freezers.  He has appeared in 283 games in the National Hockey League with the Philadelphia Flyers, Nashville Predators, Buffalo Sabres and Columbus Blue Jackets.  He led all NHL defensemen in 2002-03 scoring 14 power-play goals for the Predators.  The LaSalle, Ontario native has registered 101 points (43-58—101) and 105 penalty minutes in his NHL career. 
 
Delmore was the winner of the American Hockey League’s Eddie Shore Award as the league’s best defenseman while playing for Syracuse in 2005-06.  In 335 career AHL games, he has accumulated 203 points (60-143—203) and 208 PIM.
