NEWARK, N.J. - New Jersey Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur is practising for the first time since having elbow surgery in November.

A four-time Vezina Trophy winner as the NHL's top goaltender, Brodeur stepped on the ice with the team around noon Saturday.

He had faced some shots with teammates in recent weeks and worked out with the coaches.

The 36-year-old Brodeur tore a biceps tendon in his left elbow against Atlanta and had surgery on Nov. 6.

Scott Clemmensen has replaced him and posted a 24-11-1 mark, leading the Devils to first place in the Atlantic Division.

He has posted consecutive shutouts, including a 1-0 win over Boston on Friday.
