GLENDALE, Ariz. - Chris Chelios took the ice for the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday night for the first time this season - his 25th in the NHL.
The 46-year-old defenceman has been out since the pre-season after fracturing his right tibia blocking a shot in Montreal.
Chelios is ninth on the career points list for defenceman with 948.
He has played 1,617 games, the most among active and American-born players and sixth overall. He's the only player in NHL history to play at least 400 games for three teams.
