Vancouver, BC – Today at a downtown media conference held just prior to the Sports Celebrities Festival, the Vancouver Canucks led by Captain Roberto Luongo and alternate captains, Mattias Ohlund, Willie Mitchell and Ryan Kesler unveiled the club's new third sweater. The team captains were joined by four Special Olympics BC Athletes in the unveiling of the sweater that will be worn 15 times during the 2008-09 season.

The Canucks will debut their new look this Saturday night when they play host to the Toronto Maple Leafs. The sweater combines the original blue, green and white colouring, along with the 'Stick and Rink', 'V' and 'Johnny Canuck' logos to honour each era of Canucks history.

"Our new sweater is intended to celebrate the past and present in both the Canucks and Vancouver's hockey history," said Chris Zimmerman, Canucks President and CEO. "The new sweater reflects our heritage, our future and our great city and province."
