Heading into the third period, the Sudbury Wolves looked to be cruising to an easy victory. By the end of the game, they were lucky to escape with two points.

Marcus Foligno scored twice on the power play in the second period and added an assist as the Wolves came out on top of a wild 9-7 game against the Niagara IceDogs Friday night in the Ontario Hockey League.

Eight different players found the net for Sudbury (7-5-1-1), who led 7-1 after two periods. The IceDogs scored five times in the first nine minutes of the third and added another on the power play with four minutes remaining to pull within one, but it wasn't enough.

Matt Diaz had three assists, John MacFarlane had a goal and two assists, while Brett Thompson, John Kurtz, Gerome Giudice, Dean Howard, Jared Staal and Eric O'Dell also scored for the Wolves.

Elsewhere in the OHL, it was: Erie 4, Sault Ste. Marie 2; London 6, Plymouth 3; Ottawa 6, Mississauga 2; and Owen Sound 2, Kingston 1 (OT).

At Sudbury, Ont., Andrew Agozzino and Marco Insam both had four-point nights for Niagara with two goals and two assists. Andrew Merrett scored twice and Mathew Maione added a single for the IceDogs (5-8-1-4).

Alain Valiquette made 26 saves for the victory, while Niagara netminding duty was split between starter John Cullen, who stopped 10 of 13 shots before being pulled near the end of the first period, and Mark Visentin, who made 26 saves.

Otters 4, Greyhounds 2

At Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., Ryan O'Reilly sparked a four-goal third period and added an assist as Erie came back to defeat the Greyhounds.

Zack Torquato, Justin Hodgman and Mike Cazzola also scored for the Otters (7-8-1-0).

Jamie Haines opened the scoring and Matthew Lyall added a goal for Sault Ste. Marie (8-7-1-0).

Knights 6, Whalers 3

At London, Ont., Daniel Erlich had a three-point night, scoring two goals - including the game-winner at 6:42 of the third period - as the Knights defeated Plymouth.

Sergei Korostin, Kale Kerbashian, Philip McRae and Nazem Kadri added goals for London (11-4-0-1), who have eight wins in their last 10 games.

Kaine Gilbert scored twice and AJ Jenks had the other goal for the Whalers (5-8-1-0).

67's 6, Majors 2

At Ottawa, Martin Paryzek scored his first two goals of the season while Derek Hartwick had two assists to help the 67's rout Mississauga.

Thomas Kiriakou and Jon Carnevale each had a goal and an assist for Ottawa (9-8-0-0) while Stephen Blunden and Cody Lindsay also scored.

Josh McFadden and Cory Bureau both scored for the Majors (7-6-0-0).

Attack 2, Frontenacs 1 (OT)

Kingston, Ont., Andrew Wilkins scored 54 seconds into overtime to lift Owen Sound over the struggling Frontenacs.

Corbin Crawford scored for Kingston (4-9-3-0), who held a 1-0 lead late in the third period.

Joey Hishon scored for the Attack (6-5-2-1) with less than four minutes remaining to force overtime.
