Messier's late 2nd-period goal propels Tri-City to 2-1 win over Swift Current

SWIFT CURRENT, Sask. - Rookie Jordan Messier scored the winner with six seconds left in the second period as the Tri-City Americans beat Swift Current 2-1 Tuesday night, handing the Broncos their first home loss of the WHL season.

Jarrett Toll had the lone goal of the opening period when he scored his first of the season to pace the Americans (4-2-0-0). Matt Tassone had the lone goal for the Broncos (6-2-0-0).

Americans goaltender Chet Pickard stopped 30 of 31 shots to collect his second win of the season. Broncos netminder Mark Guggenberger gave up two goals on 30 shots in the loss.
