Despite Luongo, Canucks struggled in shootouts

The Canucks drew 212 power plays at GM Place, the second-highest home total in the League and 40 more than it allowed. But on the road, Vancouver earned just 157 power plays, 39 fewer than the opposition.

The Canucks scored and allowed 128 goals while playing 5-on-5. Only the Sedin twins, Henrik (46) and Daniel (42) had more than 33 points while the Canucks were playing at even strength.

The Canucks had 11 more power-play goals than their opponents at home, but were outscored 42-30 on the road, where they killed only 78.6 percent of opponents' advantages.

Injuries hampered the Canucks' defense all season; Mattias Ohlund (9), Sami Salo (8) and Kevin Bieksa (2 in 34 games after scoring 12 in 2006-07) missed substantial amounts of time.

Despite the presence of All-Star goaltender Roberto Luongo, the Canucks were tied with Buffalo for the League lead in shootout losses, including three to Edmonton. Luongo was the loser in eight of those games.

The Canucks were a middle-of-the-pack .714 when scoring first, and won only nine games and had a .225 winning percentage when the opposition got the first goal.

Best 07-08 Number 12-6-2

Vancouver's record against the Central Division, the best of any team in the Northwest. The Canucks were 22-24-6 against the rest of the Western Conference.

Worst 07-08 Number 7-11-0

The Canucks' record after February. Vancouver was 7-8-0 in March and lost all three of its games in April. The Canucks were outscored 52-42 and were shut out or scored only one goal in eight of those games.
   
Scheduling

The Canucks get to open at home, but then they hit the road for their next six games. They also have a seven-game trip after Thanksgiving and a six-gamer in March. The Canucks have a six-game and five-game homestand, plus three four-gamers.
