The combination of J.P. Dumont (56) and Jason Arnott (50) was at its best when the sides were even. The Preds were second in the West and fifth overall with 152 goals at 5-on-5.

Nashville missed Scott Hartnell and his 10 power-play goals in 2006-07, when Nashville's special-teams margin was plus-22. Not only did the power play score just 53 times, it allowed 10 shorthanded goals.

The Predators are hoping a healthy season from Shea Weber, who had just six goals while missing 28 games, will offset a trade that sent Marek Zidlicky to Minnesota. Ryan Suter (7) is also capable of hitting double figures.

Scheduling

Nashville better be ready to play right away -- four of its first five games are on the road, and the Predators have a six-game, 11-day Western trip in early November. They catch up with a stretch of 12 home games in 15 dates in February and early March.
