Advantage Margin            +23

The Predators were among the League's best in drawing power plays at home -- their total of 198 was 38 more than they were able to earn on the road.

Even-Strength Goals Margin        +2

The combination of J.P. Dumont (56) and Jason Arnott (50) was at its best when the sides were even. The Preds were second in the West and fifth overall with 152 goals at 5-on-5.

Special Teams Goal Margin        +1

Nashville missed Scott Hartnell and his 10 power-play goals in 2006-07, when Nashville's special-teams margin was plus-22. Not only did the power play score just 53 times, it allowed 10 shorthanded goals.

Goals by defensemen            30

The Predators are hoping a healthy season from Shea Weber, who had just six goals while missing 28 games, will offset a trade that sent Marek Zidlicky to Minnesota. Ryan Suter (7) is also capable of hitting double figures.

Overtime Record             Total: 8-4-5
                                                 OT: 5-4
                                                 SO: 3-5

The departure of Paul Kariya, who was 7-for-11 in shootouts in 2006-07, was costly -- he had more shootout goals than the entire Nashville roster managed last season.

Times Scored First            44
Record                           34-6-4

The Predators still scored first more than half the time, but their total was down sharply from 52 in 2006-07, when they led the NHL. Their .773 winning percentage when scoring first was fifth in the League.

Best 07-08 Number             18-9-5

Nashville's record against its Central Division rivals, the best mark in the division. The Predators had 41 points within the division, four more than the Stanley Cup champion Detroit Red Wings.

Worst 07-08 Number          0-5-1

The Predators' record on Wednesdays. Nashville was the only team that didn't win a game on Wednesday, and the only one to go winless on any day of the week in which it played more than five games.

Scheduling

Nashville better be ready to play right away -- four of its first five games are on the road, and the Predators have a six-game, 11-day Western trip in early November. They catch up with a stretch of 12 home games in 15 dates in February and early March.
