• In 2010-11, he finished first in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with a .920 save-percentage and second overall with a 2.42 goals-against average. He played 37 games for the Sagueneens recording a 14-15-3-5 record and four shutouts. Gibson was named a First Team All-Star for his efforts.

• Gibson played in the Espoo Blues system before moving away from home at 15 to attend Notre Dame Academy in Wilcox, Saskatchewan. In his only season at Notre Dame, he backstopped the Hounds to the 2009 Telus Cup, Canada's National Midget AAA Championship – he had a 43-save shutout in the championship game.

• He speaks both English and Finnish at home – his father, a martial arts instructor, was born in England.

• There have been several influential people throughout his career. Gibson credits: Chicoutimi goalie coach Marc Denis for helping with his transition to the QMJHL; Erkki Saari, a childhood friend who got him started in hockey; Harri Piiparinen his minor hockey coach; and his parents for always pushing him to be better.
