• Grimaldi has committed to the University of North Dakota for the fall of 2011.

• He led the team in all scoring categories and accounted for 18.7% of the U.S. Under-18’s scoring in 2010-11. In 58 games, Grimaldi had 39 goals, including 16 power-play goals, and 73 points (39-34--73).

• At the 2010 Under-18 World Championships, he helped the team win gold, recording a team high eight assists (2-8--10) in seven games.

• Grimaldi started his first season with the U.S. National Team Development Program in 2009-10 playing with the Under-17 team. He tallied seven goals and 16 assists in just 26 games before being moved up to the Under-18 team where he registered 14 goals and 26 assists in 36 games.

• He split his minor hockey career between Michigan and California. Born in Anaheim, California, he started his hockey career alongside teammate and fellow draft prospect Matt Nieto (No. 43 ranked) at the local YMCA before competing for the California Wave from 2000 to 2005. He then played for Little Caesars from 2005 to 2009, winning the Under-18 Tier I National Championship in 2009 before making the jump to the U.S. NTDP program.

• Athleticism runs in the Grimaldi family, his father has a triple black belt in karate and both his parents competed in the Police Olympics, while his sister played Division I soccer at Oklahoma State University.

• Once his hockey career is complete he has aspirations of being a pastor, it is an interest that developed through the guidance of his grandmother.
