• In his second season with the Broncos, DeBrusk paced the team and tied for sixth in the Western Hockey League with 42 goals. He also led Swift Current with 81 points (42-39—81) in 72 games.

• His father, Louie DeBrusk, played 401 regular season NHL games with the Edmonton Oilers, Tampa Bay Lightning, Phoenix Coyotes and Chicago Blackhawks from 1991-2003. Louie began his NHL career with the Oilers, where he was teammates with Mark Lamb – Jake’s head coach in Swift Current. The elder DeBrusk now serves as a hockey analyst for Sportsnet.

• In 2012-13, DeBrusk played for the SSAC Athletics in the Alberta Midget Hockey League, where he collected 52 points (25-27—52) in 34 games en route to being named to the League’s First All-Star Team.

• DeBrusk attended his first hockey game when he was just three days old: "I know my first game I attended because my parents told me, but I can't remember the result.”
