• In 2013-14, Barbashev led Moncton of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League in assists (43) and finished second on the team with 68 points (25-43—68) in 48 games. He went on to lead the Wildcats with ten points (4-6—10) in six postseason games, before Moncton fell to Blainville-Boisbriand in the first round.

• Barbashev was the youngest member of Russia’s bronze-medal team at the 2014 World Junior Championship, chipping in with a goal and assist in seven games. His international resume also includes leading the 2013 Under-18 World Championship with six assists (3-6—9) in seven games and captaining Russia to a gold medal at the 2012 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge where he registered six points (4-2—6), including a goal and assist in a 7-4 win over the U.S. in the gold medal game.

• In 2012-13, Barbashev was named to the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League All-Rookie Team after leading first year players with 44 assists and finishing third in rookie scoring with 62 points (18-44—62) in 68 games.

• Barbashev skated for Moscow Dynamo’s Under-17 team in 2011-12, registering ten points (8-2—10) in 38 games before Moncton selected him first overall in the 2012 Canadian Hockey League Import Draft.

• He wears No. 22 because it is a family tradition shared with his older brother, Sergei, who plays with Vladivostok in Russia’s Kontinental Hockey League and his 10-year-old brother, Max.
