• In 2012-13, Bjorkstrand led all Western Hockey League rookies with 63 points (31-32--63) in 65 games for the Portland Winterhawks. He added 19 points (8-11--19) in 21 playoff games helping Portland win the WHL Championship. At the 2013 Memorial Cup, Bjorkstrand pitched in with three points (1-2--3) in five games as Portland fell in the championship game to Halifax.

• Bjorkstrand was one of the youngest players in the Danish hockey league during the 2011-12 season, scoring 26 points (13-13--26) in 36 regular season games for league champion Herning.

• Internationally, Bjorkstrand has represented Denmark at the World Junior Championship in 2013 (Division 1A) and 2012 as well as at the 2012 Under-18 World Championship.

• His father, Todd, a native of Minneapolis, played college hockey at Maine and minor pro for various teams in the International Hockey League and Atlantic Coast Hockey League before a long playing and coaching career in Denmark with Herning.
