• In his first year with Kingston, Werek finished fifth in Ontario Hockey League rookie scoring with 64 points (32-32-64) in 66 games.
• Represented Team Canada at the 2009 IIHF Under-18 World Championships and represented Team Ontario, winning a gold medal at the 2008 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.
• He has committed to Boston University and will join the reigning NCAA champions next fall.
• Werek works out in the offseason with a pair of players selected in the 2008 Entry Draft: defenseman Brandon Burlon, a second-round pick of the New Jersey Devils, and Corey Trivino, a second-round pick of the New York Islanders. Trivino and Werek played together in 2007-08 with the Stouffville Spirit of the Ontario Provincial Junior Hockey League and will play together again at Boston University.
