• He led all rookie scorers in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League in 2009-10 recording 28 goals and 64 points (28-46--64) in 62 games. Playing on the league’s third-best power-play, he tallied 13 power-play goals.

• In just his first season in North America, he was awarded the QMJHL Rookie of the Year, named to the QMJHL All-Rookie Team and selected to the 2010 CHL Top Prospects Game.

• A 6'1 winger, he wears number 23 because it is the sum of the numbers in his mother's birth date and he was drafted 23rd overall by Rimouski in the 2009 CHL Import Draft.

• Straka and his Rimouski teammate, Jakub Culek (No. 52 ranked), played for the same team in the Czech Republic (Plzen Jr.) -- fellow Czech and Plzen native, Martin Straka, also played for the Plzen Juniors, however there is no relation.
