• McAvoy, the youngest player in the NCAA in 2015-16, was named to the Hockey East All-Rookie Team after finishing sixth in the conference among defensemen with 25 points in his freshman season (3-22—25).

• On March 5, 2016, McAvoy registered 0-4—4 in a 5-4 victory vs. UMass to propel his team into the Hockey East Quarterfinals and become the first Terriers defenseman in nearly seven years to collect four assists in one game.

• Internationally, McAvoy helped the U.S. capture gold medals at the 2014 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge and 2015 Under-18 World Championship. He also won bronze with his country at the 2016 World Junior Championship.

• McAvoy, who learned to play hockey on rollerblades, was named the Metro Junior Hockey League’s offensive defenseman of the year in 2012-13 after collecting 43 points in 35 games with the New Jersey Rockets.

• He played minor hockey in the Long Island Gulls Amateur Hockey Association with fellow 2016 NHL Draft prospect Adam Fox (No. 50-Ranked NA Skater) and Jeremy Bracco (selected 61st overall by TOR in 2015).
