• He played for Team West, capturing a bronze medal, at the 2008 World Under-17 Challenge.

• Vey played his minor hockey in his hometown playing on his first hockey team, the Wakaw Warriors, at the age of four.

• His older brother, Shaun, played four seasons with the Tri-City Americans in the WHL and played for University of Saskatchewan in 2008-09.
