• Sheahan completed his first year at Notre Dame in 2009-10, tallying 17 points (6-11--17) in 37 games tying for the rookie lead in team points with Kyle Palmieri (selected 26th overall in 2009).

• Prior to joining the Irish, he played two seasons with the St. Catharines Falcons in the Ontario Hockey Association Golden Horseshoe League, recording 73 points (27-46--73) in 40 games in 2008-2009. He is the second St. Catharines Falcon alumni to garner a high draft ranking in the last couple of years – Daultan Leveille was selected 29th overall by Atlanta in 2008.

• In 2009 he was awarded the Junior ‘B’ Top Prospects Award, receiving the award at the Hockey Hall of Fame.

• Sheahan has an athletic family background. His mom, Peg, won a Canadian Junior Softball Championship and was an Ontario Women’s University Basketball All-Star for Brock University alongside his aunt Patti. His uncle, Rocky DiPietro, played in the Canadian Football League for Hamilton and was inducted into the CFL Hall of Fame in 1997. And his second cousin, Brock Sheahan, graduated from Notre Dame University in 2008 and is now a defenseman in the ECHL for Cincinnati.
