• Through the first round of the 2011 Ontario Hockey League playoffs, Hamilton led the IceDogs with six points (1-5--6) in their four-game sweep of Brampton. In 2010-11, he led Niagara and finished fourth in the OHL in scoring among defensemen with 58 points (12-46--58) in 67 games.
• Athleticism runs in the Hamilton family: his father, Doug, was an Olympic rower for Canada, winning a bronze medal in 1984 and also competing in 1988; his mother, Lynn, competed on Canada’s basketball team at the 1984 Olympics and won World Championship gold and bronze medals; and his older brother, Freddie, was selected 129th overall by San Jose in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft and also plays for Niagara in the OHL.
• In 2009-10, he was named to the OHL Second All-Rookie Team, the Niagara Ice Dog’s Rookie of the Year and honored as the OHL’s Top Academic High School Student.
• He played for Canada and won gold at the 2010 Ivan Hlinka Memorial -- at the tournament he roomed with WHL’s Red Deer Rebels, and fellow top prospect, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.
