• Gauthier ranked fourth among first-year players in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with 60 points (22-28--60) in 62 games during the 2012-13 season. He also led all first-year players in face-off winning percentage (46.6%).
• He helped Team Canada earn a gold medal at the 2013 Under-18 World Championship in Russia with a goal and three assists in seven games. All three assists came during tournament playoff games.
• He had 26 goals and 51 points for Quebec Midget-AAA league champion College Esther-Blondin Phenix in 2011-12. Gauthier added 13 goals and 24 points in 13 playoff games, helping lead his team to the championship game of the 2012 Telus Cup, Canada's national midget-hockey championship. He was named the Most Valuable Player and selected to the First All-Star Team in Quebec Midget-AAA for his successful season.
• His mom, Sophie Normandin, was an international swimmer.
