• Makar paced all Alberta Junior Hockey League defensemen in goals, assists and points with 24-51—75 in 2016-17 (54 GP) to help the Bandits clinch first place in the league standings and earn Most Outstanding Defenseman and Most Valuable Player honors. He also became the first player in franchise history to be named Canadian Junior Hockey League Most Valuable Player, chosen among five finalists from the 132 teams that comprise the CJHL.
• In the 2016-17 postseason, Makar averaged more than a point per game (5-11—16 in 13 GP) to earn playoff MVP honors and lift the Bandits to a league championship.
• In 2015-16, Makar collected 10-45—55 in the regular season (54 GP) and 3-11—14 in the playoffs (13 GP) to help the Bandits secure the league championship. Makar received AJHL Rookie of the Year honors and was named to the AJHL South All-Star Team and All-Rookie Team.
• Internationally, Makar served as captain of Canada West at the 2016 World Junior A Challenge (4-4—8 in 4 GP) after winning a gold medal in the 2015 instalment of the tournament (1-0—1 in 4 GP).
