DraftKings daily fantasy value picks for Jan. 25

Monday, 01.25.2016 / 11:59 AM | Eric Goodman  - NHL.com Fantasy Staff Writer

Each day during the 2015-16 season, NHL.com's fantasy staff will identify one player at each position worth owning in DraftKings daily fantasy hockey contests. Based on factors including but not limited to matchups, line combinations, power-play usage, statistical coverage and recent production, we'll provide you with lower-priced options that can help you build a winning lineup.

Players accumulate points in DraftKings for each goal (3 points), assist (2), shot on goal (0.5), blocked shot (0.5) and shootout goal (0.2). Bonuses are given for shorthanded points (1) and hat tricks (1.5). Goalies accumulate points for each win (3) and save (0.2), and lose a point for each goal allowed. Goalie bonuses are given for a shutout (2) where the goalie completes the entire game with no goals allowed in regulation (and overtime, if applicable). Shootout goals will not prevent a shutout, and goalies will receive points for any goals or assists they score in a game. Penalty minutes, hits, plus-minus and PP points DO NOT count in DraftKings. DraftKings lineups must include nine players (2 C, 3 W, 2 D, 1 G, 1 FLEX) and fit within the $50,000 salary cap.

Dylan Larkin, C, Detroit Red Wings

DraftKings price: $5,300

Larkin has been a great service to DraftKings owners in his rookie season; he is second among NHL rookies with 32 points (15 goals, 17 assists) and 127 shots on goal through 47 games. The first-line forward is always a threat to score skating with Justin Abdelkader ($4,500) and Henrik Zetterberg ($5,600), who is tied with Larkin for the Red Wings lead in points with nine goals and 23 assists. Given the affordable price on all three of those players, it is possible to stack the entire line at the New York Islanders on Monday.

Loui Eriksson, W, Boston Bruins

DraftKings price: $5,500

Eriksson is a dependable, mid-priced forward that can pay big dividends on a six-game night. The second-line forward is second on the Bruins with 39 points (15 goals, 24 assists) through 47 games and has been very good against the Philadelphia Flyers in his career (one goal, 12 assists and 29 SOG in 15 games). Eriksson has also done well with one day of rest with 25 points (11 goals, 14 assists), 15 blocked shots and 59 SOG in 26 games.

Alex Goligoski, D, Dallas Stars

DraftKings price: $4,800

The draw of daily fantasy sports is that owners don't have to endure extended cold spells with a player. Goligoski is in the midst of a season-high seven-game pointless streak but has the chance to break out at home against the Calgary Flames. The Flames are 29th in the League with a 3.04 goals-against average through 46 games.

Michal Neuvirth, G, Philadelphia Flyers

DraftKings price: $7,300

Selecting Neuvirth comes with its share of risk since he is 1-3-0 with a 3.85 goals-against average in seven games against the Bruins. But the veteran goaltender has been strong enough at Wells Fargo Center to warrant taking the chance; he is 6-1-1 with two shutouts and a 1.79 GAA through eight home games. Neuvirth is also 3-1-0 with a 2.22 GAA in his past four starts.
