DraftKings daily fantasy value picks for Dec. 20

Sunday, 12.20.2015 / 11:25 AM | Eric Goodman  - NHL.com Fantasy Staff Writer

Each day during the 2015-16 season, NHL.com's fantasy staff will identify one player at each position worth owning in DraftKings daily fantasy hockey contests. Based on factors including but not limited to matchups, line combinations, power-play usage, statistical coverage and recent production, we'll provide you with lower-priced options that can help you build a winning lineup.

Players accumulate points in DraftKings for each goal (3 points), assist (2), shot on goal (0.5), blocked shot (0.5) and shootout goal (0.2). Bonuses are given for shorthanded points (1) and hat tricks (1.5). Goalies accumulate points for each win (3) and save (0.2), and lose a point for each goal allowed. Goalie bonuses are given for a shutout (2) where the goalie completes the entire game with no goals allowed in regulation (and overtime, if applicable). Shootout goals will not prevent a shutout, and goalies will receive points for any goals or assists they score in a game. Penalty minutes, hits, plus-minus and PP points DO NOT count in DraftKings. DraftKings lineups must include nine players (2 C, 3 W, 2 D, 1 G, 1 FLEX) and fit within the $50,000 salary cap.

Aleksander Barkov, C, Florida Panthers

DraftKings price: $5,300

Barkov broke a three-game scoring drought with a goal and two assists in a 5-1 win at the New York Islanders on Tuesday, and has four points (goal, three assists), four blocked shots and seven shots on goal during the Panthers' three-game winning streak. The first-line center has been good at home this season with nine points (five goals, four assists), four blocked shots and 26 SOG in 10 games, and will seek to keep his strong play going against the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday. Barkov has a goal, assist and four shots on goal in three career games against Vancouver.

Justin Williams, W, Washington Capitals

DraftKings price: $4,800

Williams will try to establish a three-game point streak when the Capitals visit the New York Rangers. The second-line wing has two assists in his past two games, and has done well against the Rangers in his career with 20 points (nine goals, 11 assists) and 67 SOG in 29 games. The Capitals will try to extend their winning streak to five Sunday while the struggling Rangers return from a six-game road trip where they went 1-4-1 with a 4.33 goals-against average.

Dougie Hamilton, D, Calgary Flames

DraftKings price: $4,700

The Flames had a seven-game winning streak halted Saturday in a 3-2 loss at the St. Louis Blues when Hamilton was held scoreless. But the second-unit defenseman was great throughout the Flames' hot stretch with a point in six of those seven wins. The 22-year-old will look to get back on the scoresheet when the Flames visit the Detroit Red Wings. Hamilton has a goal, assist, three blocked shots and seven SOG in three consecutive road games as Calgary wraps up its four-game road trip at Joe Louis Arena.

Cory Schneider, G, New Jersey Devils

DraftKings price: $7,500

Although Schneider had a tough time in his last start, a 5-1 loss to the Panthers on Thursday; the veteran goaltender has yet to lose two straight games in regulation this season. Schneider is likely to bounce back with a solid performance when the Devils visit the Boston Bruins based on an 8-3-1 record with one shutout and a 2.14 GAA in 12 road starts this season.
