Ducks reassign goalie Gibson, forward Ritchie to AHL

Goaltender John Gibson and left wing Nick Ritchie were among five players reassigned by the Anaheim Ducks to their American Hockey League affiliate in San Diego

Gibson, the 39th pick in the 2011 NHL Draft, was 13-8-0 with a 2.60 goals-against average and .914 save percentage for the Ducks last season, and is 16-8-0 with a 2.45 GAA and .919 save percentage in 26 NHL games. He signed a three-year contract extension on Sept. 21.

Ritchie, the 10th pick in the 2014 draft, spent last season with Peterborough and Sault Ste. Marie of the Ontario Hockey League, totaling 29 goals and 62 points in 48 games. He had a goal in seven games to help Canada win a gold medal at the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship.

Forwards Nate Thompson (shoulder) and Kenton Helgesen were placed on injured reserve.

The Ducks have 23 players on their roster.
