Blackhawks take Stanley Cup to Wrigley Field

The Chicago Blackhawks took the Stanley Cup north Tuesday, to Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs.

One day after winning the trophy for the third time in six seasons, with a 2-0 victory in Game 6 at United Center against the Tampa Bay Lightning, Blackhawks players and coaches posed on the pitcher's mound along with the Cubs prior to their game against the Cleveland Indians.

Cubs manager Joe Maddon lifted the Cup over his head before Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews threw out the ceremonial first pitch to first baseman Anthony Rizzo.

Blackhawks backup goalie Scott Darling, who grew up in the Chicago suburb of Lemont, Ill., was excited to be on the field of the team he rooted for as a boy.

"It's hard to put into words," Darling told CSN. "[Monday] night was one of the greatest nights of my life and I'm glad to be a part of it.

"Been a Cubs fan my whole life; it's been pretty amazing to come walk on the field after coming to games."

The Stanley Cup had a busy day Tuesday. It spent most of the afternoon at forward Patrick Sharp's house, where teammates, family and friends visited.

It was on display in the window of Chicago restaurant Phil Stefani's 437 Rush earlier in the day, after the Blackhawks celebrated early Tuesday morning with the Cup at a nightclub before it went back to United Center.

The Blackhawks have a victory parade scheduled for Thursday followed by a rally at Soldier Field.
