McDavid's season ends with loss in OHL Final

Connor McDavid, the top-ranked North American skater for next month's NHL Draft, saw his junior hockey season end Friday when the Erie Otters were eliminated from the Ontario Hockey League Final by the Oshawa Generals.

McDavid, the OHL playoff scoring leader, was held off the scoresheet in a 6-2 loss to the Generals in Game 5 at Oshawa. He finished the playoffs with 49 points in 20 games, two short of the League record set by Justin Papineau of the Belleville Bulls 16 years ago. McDavid won the 99 Trophy as playoff MVP.

Michael McCarron (Montreal Canadiens) had a goal and an assist during a three-goal outburst early in the second period that broke the game open. Cole Cassels (Vancouver Canucks) assisted on four goals for Oshawa.

The Generals qualified for the Memorial Cup, completing a field that includes the Western Hockey League-champion Kelowna Rockets and the two finalists in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, the Quebec Remparts and Rimouski Oceanic. Quebec leads the best-of-7 QMJHL final 3-2, but the Remparts had automatically qualified as the host of the tournament, which begins May 22.
