Detroit Red Wings defenseman Jakub Kindl, who has been a healthy scratch in each of the six games in the Eastern Conference First Round series against the Tampa Bay Lightning, likely will make his 2015 Stanley Cup Playoff debut in Game 7 at Amalie Arena on Wednesday (7:30 p.m. ET; NBCSN, CBC, TVA Sports 2, FS-D, SUN).

Kindl, who had 13 points in 35 games during the regular season, would be inserted in place of Niklas Kronwall, who was suspended for one game on Tuesday for a hit on Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov. Kindl has one goal and five points in 18 NHL playoff games with the Red Wings.

Rookie defensemen Alexei Marchenko is the other option for Detroit. He was scratched in Game 6 but played in Games 1 and 2.

Danny DeKeyser (20:59 of ice time), Jonathan Ericsson (19:56), Kyle Quincey (19:23), Marek Zidlicky (15:17) and Brendan Smith (14:29) likely will see increased minutes as a result.

Kronwall hit Kucherov with one minute remaining in the second period of a 5-2 loss in Game 6 on Monday. There was no penalty on the play, and Kucherov stayed in the game, but it was ruled charging by the Department of Player Safety on Tuesday.

Kronwall, who had nine goals and 44 points in the regular season, has two assists in the series and leads the Red Wings in ice time 23:35 per game.
