Lightning look to repeat Game 1 performance

BRANDON, Fla. -- Tampa Bay Lightning forward Tyler Johnson said Friday he hopes the Lightning repeat their performance from Thursday but is hoping for a different result against the Detroit Red Wings in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference First Round series at Amalie Arena on Saturday (3p.m. ET; NBC, NBCSN, CBC, TVA Sports).

The Lightning had a 46-14 shot advantage in Game 1 but lost 3-2 and trail the Red Wings 1-0 in the best-of-7 series.

"I'd rather know that we gave a great effort and lost than to have lost and not played well," Johnson said. "You have to give [Red Wings goaltender Petr] Mrazek a lot of credit for what he did last night."

Tampa Bay was 0-for-7 on the power play, but coach Jon Cooper said that statistic is a little deceiving.

"If you look at it, we had 14 seconds on one power play and a couple of other abbreviated power plays that counted as full chances," Cooper said. "Looking back at it we had favorable situations, but at times we shot when we should have passed and passed when we should have shot."

Cooper said the Lightning will have to continue to pressure Mrazek with shots and they will have to do a better job on follow-ups.

"We allowed him too many chances to smother the puck," Cooper said. "We have to make the puck a little more difficult for him to see."

Cooper also said he expects to use the same lineup Saturday as defenseman Jason Garrison is continuing to work his way back from an upper-body injury. He has not played since March 28.
