Flames' Glencross has focus set on helping team

CALGARY -- A day after sparking speculation that his time with the Calgary Flames is drawing to an end, forward Curtis Glencross put his focus on helping the Flames win Friday against the visiting Anaheim Ducks.

"That's something where I'm not even thinking about that right now," Glencross said after the morning skate. "It's an important game for us tonight, and at the end of the day we need to get two points tonight and move on. Our main focus tonight is about tonight's game. You never know what happens. That's not up to me; it's up to [management]. We'll see what happens.

"As of right now, it's something where I'm a Calgary Flame and I'm going to go out there and help my team as much as I can to get two points."

On Thursday, Glencross confirmed he had submitted a list of teams he would accept a trade to and that he is unhappy with his recent role with the Flames.

"If the right opportunity comes along and the management asks me to do that kind of thing, that's where we're at," Glencross said, according to the Calgary Herald.

"I'm at the point in my career where I want to win a [Stanley] Cup. And if it comes to a situation where I am going to have to leave, I'm going to miss a lot of guys in here."

Glencross, who has eight goals and 26 points in 49 games, has spent the past seven seasons with the Flames. He missed nine games last month because of a lower-body injury and does not have a point in 2015.

Glencross has two seasons with at least 20 goals and three with 40 or more points. He's in the final season of a four-year, $10.2 million contract.

But there haven't been any talks about signing an extension.

"When you're overthinking everything and not knowing what's going to happen or what's going on or where your status is on the team, it's tough," Glencross said Thursday. "It wears on you. It's a tough situation to be in. I've been in Calgary for seven years now. I absolutely love the organization and have a lot of respect for [management]. The fans are great and I love the city. I've been fortunate enough to call it home for seven years and be at home and playing close to friends and family. Ultimately it's a perfect scenario."

On Friday, Glencross put his focus on helping the Flames.

"Today's a day to focus on today's game," he said. "We made our comments yesterday on what was going on yesterday and today; that's between Brad (Treliving, Flames general manager) and my agents and the coaching staff to take care of. We're focusing on tonight's game.

"It's an important game for all of us. We're in a good, tight race right now. The ultimate focus is we're going to go out and play and try to get our two points tonight."
