Boston Bruins forward David Pastrnak will make his preseason debut Friday against the New York Islanders, coach Claude Julien told the Bruins website.

Pastrnak, the team's first pick (No. 25) at the 2014 NHL Draft, has not played in a game since taking part in a rookie tournament before training camp. He injured his shoulder on the second day of camp practice when he fell awkwardly into the boards.

The 6-foot, 167-pound right wing had 24 points in 36 games last season with Sodertalje in Sweden's second division. He's No. 51 on the NHL.com Top 60 prospect ranking.

"We'll give him a chance to show what he can do here [Friday] and evaluate him and make a decision moving forward from there," Julien said. "He's a player that we know has a lot of skills. … You watch him practice, you see the speed, skill level, hockey sense, and he is a guy that you're excited to see in a position where he can showcase all that stuff."
