Chicago Blackhawks forward Andrew Shaw joined NHL Live via Arena Cam to discuss the upcoming regular season, the team's salary-cap situation and his summer.

Last season ended in disappointment for the Blackhawks, who were eliminated by the Los Angeles Kings in Game 7 of the Western Conference Final.

The Blackhawks open the 2014-15 season Oct. 9 against the Dallas Stars at American Airlines Center.

"It's great to get back on the ice and be around the guys," Shaw said. "I feel like everyone is excited for the year to start here. The guys think this is the year to do it. We have to come together as a team here and just move forward. After last year, ending the year with a sour taste in your mouth, we weren't happy with it, so I think we're going to use that to help ourselves this year."

Shaw, who won the Stanley Cup with the Blackhawks in 2013, scored 20 goals with 19 assists and a plus-12 rating last season, and had eight points in 12 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
