Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby will not be in the lineup for a preseason game on Monday against the Minnesota Wild at Xcel Energy Center in Minnesota in order to attend his grandmother's funeral.

Crosby, who has yet to play a preseason game after missing a few days early in training camp with an unspecified injury, did skate with the team in the morning but was removed from the lineup to attend the funeral.

"He will not be going with us to Minnesota. He will be going back to Nova Scotia [Monday]," coach Mike Johnston said.

Additionally, center Evgeni Malkin (undisclosed injury) remains sidelined and isn't expected to participate in either of Pittsburgh's remaining two preseason games.

The Penguins' next preseason game is Wednesday against the Detroit Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena.

Goaltender Thomas Greiss will start the game against the Wild and play half the game, and Jeff Zatkoff will play the second half, according to Johnston. The coach also confirmed goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury will start Wednesday against the Red Wings.
