San Jose Sharks center Logan Couture expects to practice Thursday after leaving a preseason game Tuesday with a minor injury, he told CSN Bay Area.

"Just fell awkwardly and was told to take [the equipment] off," Couture said. "If it was a regular-season game I probably would have been back out there, but this time of year just make sure everything’s fine."

Couture did not play the third period against the Vancouver Canucks in a split-squad game Tuesday. He told CSN the problem was not related to offseason surgery on his hand.

The San Jose Mercury News said Couture fell to the ice after making a pass.

"I've been told he'll skate tomorrow, everything's fine,” coach Todd McLellan said. "Just precautionary."

The Canucks won, 4-2. The Sharks next play Friday against the Arizona Coyotes.
