Twenty years ago, Stephane Matteau forever etched himself into New York Rangers lore with his game-winning goal in Game 7 of the 1994 Eastern Conference Final against the New Jersey Devils. Matteau joined NHL Live to discuss that historic night at Madison Square Garden and his wrap-around goal that defeated the Devils in double overtime.

Whenever Matteau hears Howie Rose's famous radio call of "Matteau! Matteau! Matteau!," the first things that goes through his mind are emotion and joy.

"Even though it's been 20 years I've heard that call a thousand times, so it feels good and as an ex-Ranger I'm very proud of it," Matteau said. "A lot of players play their entire careers without a moment like that. I'm very grateful that the Rangers had traded for me and I'm very grateful that I had a chance to chip in some of the big goals for the New York Rangers in 1994. It's one moment, maybe, but it was a great moment that I've cherished for the last 20 years."
