Stars' Seguin out with concussion-like symptoms

DALLAS -- Dallas Stars center Tyler Seguin, who leads the team with 12 goals, will miss the game Sunday night against the Edmonton Oilers due to concussion-like symptoms. Seguin, who joined Dallas in a July 4 trade with the Boston Bruins, had been called a game-time decision earlier in the day by Stars coach Lindy Ruff.

Seguin had missed two practices earlier in the week with what was termed a muscle issue, but he appeared to be fine in a 2-1 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday at American Airlines Center. He will accompany the team to Chicago, where the Stars will face the Blackhawks on Tuesday night.

"He's day to day with concussion-like symptoms," Ruff said of Seguin after Dallas dropped a 3-2 shootout decision to Edmonton. "He'll make the trip [to Chicago]. This had nothing to do with earlier in the week when he had a muscle strain. This was a hit that just caught him right. He went through the protocol. The doctor did the testing and ruled him out."

With Seguin unavailable Sunday, Ruff made kept captain Jamie Benn, who leads the Stars with 24 points, on the left side. But the coach moved Cody Eakin, who normally centers Dallas' second line, up and put rookie Alex Chiasson on the right wing, a spot that has been held by fellow rookie Valeri Nichushkin recently.

Veteran defenseman Stephane Robidas is out for at least four months after breaking his right leg against Chicago, so rookie Jamie Oleksiak, Dallas' top pick (No. 14) at the 2011 NHL Draft, took Robidas' place on the Stars' top defensive pairing alongside Brenden Dillon.

Oleksiak, 20, was recalled from Texas of the American Hockey League on Saturday.
