LAKE PLACID, N.Y. -- Canada continued to dial up the offense against Sweden, scoring three times in the third period to turn one-goal game into a rout en route to a 7-3 victory.

A turnover deep in the Swedish zone saw the puck bounce off the skate of a Swedish player right to Frederik Gauthier, who rifled a shot past Jonas Johansson at 2:15. Just over two minutes later, another poor pass by Sweden in its own zone led to Sean Monahan scoring from the slot at 4:17 to make it 6-3.

Bo Horvat closed the scoring when he tipped an Anthony Mantha shot past Johansson at 7:36.

Things continued to be testy as the game wore on. Max Domi was assessed a pair of minor penalties and then a game misconduct for going after Sweden's Tobias Tornkvist for what Domi thought was an unnecessary hit on Connor McDavid at 13:30.

Four different scrums broke out at the final buzzer.

More from both locker rooms.
