Sweden plays without Collberg, Sundqvist

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. -- Sweden played Wednesday without two of its top six forwards, when Sebastian Collberg and Oskar Sundqvist were out of the lineup with injuries.

Collberg twisted his right knee during the second period of a game Monday against the USA White squad. Sundqvist sustained a neck injury when he collided with a metal stanchion in the final seconds of the second period.

Sundqvist's injury appeared at first to be the most serious, but Gronborg said the Pittsburgh Penguins draft pick has a sore neck.

"[Thursday] we'll have a new check on Sundqvist," Gronborg said. "He had no setbacks when it comes to his injury, so that's a good sign. [Thursday] we'll check him out, see where he's at."

Gronborg said there have been no further issues with Collberg's knee injury.

"It wasn't as bad as we thought at first," Gronborg said. "It's day by day."

Gronborg wouldn't say if either player would be in the lineup for a game Thursday against Canada, but he did not rule them out.

"Our trainers are continuously checking them out, seeing how they're doing," he said. "Right now it's a guessing game a little bit, but there's nothing major on either one, which is good news."
