For Ben Smith, his day with the Stanley Cup involved a trip home.

The Chicago Blackhawks forward, who played one game in the 2013 Stanley Cup Final, took the Cup to an event at Westminster School in Simsbury, Conn., on Tuesday, near where he grew up in Avon.

"It's special for me," Smith told the Hartford Courant. "I grew up here, since I was 3 years old, playing youth hockey here, coming to Westminster. It's just a nicer event for us to be out in the public for a bit and share it with some people that were always there for me growing up and who I learned to play hockey from. I grew so much as a person here at the school, it's just really nice to be able to bring the trophy back."
