Defenseman Hampus Lindholm will not play for Sweden at the World Junior Championship due to a concussion, the Orange County Register reported Wednesday.

Sweden coach Roger Ronnberg had told reporters in Russia that Lindholm would miss at least the tournament opener for the defending champions, a 4-1 win Wednesday against the Czech Republic.

Lindholm, the Anaheim Ducks' 2012 first-round pick, could be replaced by defenseman Robert Hagg. Hagg, a 6-foot-2.25, 204-pound blueliner, is No. 4 on NHL Central Scouting's preliminary ranking of Swedish skaters for the 2013 NHL Draft.

Lindholm has one goal and four assists in 19 games for the Norfolk Admirals in the American Hockey League.

Finland lost forward Miro Aaltonen for the tournament with an ankle injury suffered in Wednesday's 5-1 win over Latvia.

Aaltonen scored twice and added an assist before leaving in the third period after colliding with a Latvian player, according to The Canadian Press.
