Cup arrives at home of Kings' captain Brown

Dustin Brown's day with the Stanley Cup in his hometown of Ithaca, N.Y. got off to an early -- and wet -- start.

Phil Pritchard, the keeper of the Cup, started his drive from the home of Los Angeles Kings goalie Jonathan Quick in Stamford, Conn., at about 12:30 a.m., and made a stop at a hotel for a couple hours of sleep before arriving at Brown's place.

Not long after the Cup arrived, so did the rain, which forced Brown and his three children to move the trophy into the garage. His oldest son, Jake, who is 3, had to be told he couldn't climb into the Cup like he had in the past.

"Daddy didn't know the rules then," Brown told him.

From there, Brown took the Cup to Ithaca High School, where he won a state hockey title as an eighth grader. Even with the rain still falling, about 1,000 people showed up for a picture with the Cup and a chance to meet Brown.

Brown planned to take the Cup to several other stops in town as the day progressed.
