At the Rink: Blue Jackets at Flames

CALGARY -- It's good news, bad news for the Columbus Blue Jackets as they face the Calgary Flames at Scotiabank Saddledome on Saturday.

The Blue Jackets activated forwards Jeremy Morin, who has missed the past 25 games, and Boone Jenner, who has missed 40 games, from injured reserve Friday, but center Alexander Wennberg is likely to miss the game against the Flames after a cut on his hand that required stitches to close became infected.

Wennberg, the Blue Jackets first pick (No. 14) in the 2013 NHL Draft, is just the latest injury in a difficult season for Columbus. According to the Blue Jackets, they've lost a franchise record 457 man games due to injury, surpassing the previous high of 411 set in 2011-12. Columbus is on pace to reach 528.

Still, the Blue Jackets have earned wins in two straight games and five of their past six. They are currently riding a five-game road winning streak, tied for the second-longest in franchise history and one short of matching the record of six, set Jan. 19-Feb. 18, 2011.

They've already taken wins against the Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks and have the opportunity to sweep a Western Canada trip for the first time in franchise history.

It has Calgary ready for the matinee matchup.

"Here's a team that has been hurt by injuries all year, major injuries for a long time," Flames coach Bob Hartley said Friday. "That's why they're not in the playoff picture right now. But they have a good culture over there. They work hard. Look at what they're doing right now. There's no surprises on our part."

Two points against Columbus is critical for Calgary.

With a 4-1 win against the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday, the Flames climbed ahead of the Los Angeles Kings and into third place in the Pacific Division. Calgary sits one point back of the Canucks for second. The Kings and Canucks each hold one game in hand.

"Our players already know about this," Hartley said. "It's all about playing our own game. I told our guys the same sentences I've been telling them for basically the last three weeks: Recognize our situation. That's where we're at. Whether we play the Red Army, the Canadian Olympic team or the Columbus Blue Jackets, it's the same thing for us.

"We need to be ready. We need to be on our toes. We need to be at our best. [Saturday], 2 o'clock game, Scotiabank Saddledome is rocking again. We have three home games left before we go on the road. Let's cash them in."

Here are the projected lineups:
