Bruins' Krejci placed on injured reserve

Boston Bruins center David Krejci was placed on injured reserve Tuesday.

Krejci sustained what coach Claude Julien called a "minor issue" during the Bruins' preseason game Saturday. He did not practice Tuesday.

"It's still very minor but it hasn't healed as quickly as we would have liked," Julien said earlier Tuesday according to CSNNE.com.

Krejci led the Bruins in scoring last season with 69 points in 80 games.

At practice Tuesday, Ryan Spooner skated in Krejci's spot, with Milan Lucic at left wing and Jordan Caron and Matt Fraser splitting time at right wing. Caron, however, was sent to Providence of the American Hockey League on Tuesday.

The Bruins recalled right wing Brian Ferlin and goaltender Malcolm Subban from Providence and both players will be eligible to play in the season opener against the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday (7:30 p.m. ET, NBCSN).
